About
Hi, I’m Barbara (the “B” in B Painted).
Like many other face painters, I was talked into doing it for a friend. My friend needed help for an elementary school event and I did not have a stitch of experience. Although the kids were super happy to be painted, it was a huge learning experience for me.
I learned that we needed better supplies (we used face painting crayons that were melting under the cloudless sky), shade (we were on fresh blacktop on the record-breaking, hottest day of the year), and interesting designs (I created a very simple, hand-drawn poster of cheesy, cheek art). Most importantly, I learned that I needed to take some face painting classes, and that I really enjoyed this!
The next time I helped my friend, the face painting station was indoors (whew!). We used the crayon paints again, but the designs were better. I continued to improve the setup, the designs, the supplies and tools, and my skills each time I helped my friend.
It’s been over five years since I first helped my friend, and I continue to improve my setup, designs, supplies, tools, skills, and I still enjoy making people smile through face painting. I am currently working toward earning an international face painting certification this year. I look forward to using my new skills to create many happy, colorful faces and more.
